The Shroud was a human male who lived during and after the Great Galactic War. In the pre-war period, he was known as an experienced spy and was considered a legend among the other spy masters, but the history of his activities was shrouded in mysteres. Amoung the community, the Shroud was known for his love of challenge and achievement. Then he disappeared - or retired, and after a while, many were not even sure if he was a real person or just a myth.

believed that in the course of his espionage, the Shroud had found something on Coruscant

beyond what the Hutts were looking for. And the Shroud devised a plan to exploit this knowledge, a plan so insidious and harsh that one of his top lieutenants reportedly resigned and fled to the Empire, not wanting to be part of it.
The SIS tried to find out exactly what his plan was to counter him, but with a little success, loosing many of their talented agents without any results. It was then that Special Agent Riss

The Shroud's Gambit Event Cold War (3653BBY - 3642BBY)

Shroud's hideout inside the Dealer's Den on Coruscant, putting it out of comission.
As the operatives hacked into the hideout's communications equipment, the Shroud was immediately notified of the security breach and contacted his lieutenant there - the droid B-NK1. He appeared through a holocom and, being an arrogant man, began teasing the operatives that while he was expecting the interferense with his plans, he had nothing to worry about - the operatives were no threat to him. Then he said he didn't really care what they did - it didn't matter - and disconnected.
